It’s been awhile! If you follow me on Twitter you know life has been a bit nuts in the last few months. If you don’t, well first of all you totally should, but I’ll post about all the life changes that have been happening lately in a wrap up post in the beginning of November.
PSA: November is my real and official return date to regular blogging. I hope you’re pumped because I sure am.
In the mean time, I do want to get back to posting monthly Gamer Girl Monthly unboxings. So let’s take a looksy at what came in the September box, shall we?
The theme this month was Sidekicks, and it was full of childhood nostalgia. From Donkey Kong Country, to Duck Hunt, to The Legend of Zelda, if you were playing video games in the 90s this box had you covered.
Personally, I spent more time playing the Super Mario Bros half of my dual-game SNES cartridge, but I do have some vague early memories of playing Duck Hunt with my brother. I don’t think I was very good, which is probably why I didn’t play very often—ha! Even so, this is a super charming little piece. I particularly love the 8-bit look to the charm design.
I might not have played much Duck Hunt, but I played a lot of Donkey Kong Country. It is a game I desperately with I could go back and play again, to be honest. Bonus Points: this bracelet is practically perfect for me, because I actually preferred playing as Diddy instead of DK.
If you’ve read my previous unboxings, you know I am a gamer girl sinner, because I have never actually played Final Fantasy and I honestly doubt that I ever will. Even so, this moogle necklace is super cute and perfect for fans of the franchise.
And last but certainly not least, my favorite item in the September box—this adorable Legend of Zelda headband! I admit I have some qualms about Zelda being counted as a sidekick, but I’m going to let it slide because I’m so in love with this piece. Excuse me while I never take it off again ever. It’s an awesome mashup of items from across the franchise, but obviously the early days are most prominent because Ocarina of Time is so clearly superior to all the others. Just saying. #SorryNotSorry
I have acquired so many awesome pieces since I’ve been subscribed to this box. I’m obsessed with quite a few of them, but there are some that I know I’ll probably never wear. I’ve been toying with the idea of putting together a giveaway box or 2 with a mashup of items from previous boxes—is that something anyone would be interested in? Let me know! And spoiler alert: I could pretty much put together a full box just with Final Fantasy pieces so keep that in mind 😉
Thinking about subscribing for yourself? The lovely ladies at Gamer Girl Monthly are also giving Katsyxo readers $3 off their first box! Just enter KATSY at checkout! The theme of the October box is BOO and promises pieces from Fallout, Kingdom Hearts, Mario, and Bioshock!
