Gamer Girl Monthly April Unboxing + A Giveaway!

Hello, hello! Life on my end of the screen is slowly, but surely returning to some semblance of that thing people call “calm,” and I am hoping to be back to a regular posting schedule next week! In the mean time, it is time to take a looksy at all the fun stuff I got in the April Gamer Girl Monthly Box, and give you a chance to win the May box for yourself! For anyone unfamiliar with this box, Gamer Girl Monthly is a monthly nerdy sub box that features gaming inspired jewelry and accessories. I personally love them because they are one of the more affordable nerdy sub boxes out there. Find out more at GamerGirlMonthly.com!

If you recall, in my March unboxing post I told you that this was not going to be a box to miss, and lordy was I right.

Gamer Girl Monthly April Unboxing

The theme for the April Gamer Girl Monthly Box was Evolve, so naturally there was an emphasis on retro gaming. Personally, this was one of my favorite boxes so far (do I say that ever month?), I think probably because it gave me some serious nostalgia feels.

First, we have this Crash Bandicoot Aku Aku necklace!

Gamer Girl Monthly April Box Crash Bandicoot Necklace

I don’t know about you all, but I was a bit of a Crash Bandicoot fan as a kid. I played all of the games, though of course the original was and always will be the best. Coming across Aku Aku always meant you were finally making some progress in a level (I think…it has been awhile I will admit…he was like a checkpoint right?), and he was always there to offer some (sometimes much needed) hints and advice. Now you can carry his wisdom around wherever you go!

Coming up next are these ridiculously cute and perfect retro controller earrings!

(Sorry for the odd lighting, by the way. I’ve recently moved, so I have to spend some time yet figuring out the best time/place to take my photos again)

I’m in love with these earrings. I have such fond memories of sitting in my grandparents’ basement playing Super Mario Bros on the SNES as a kid. I still love that game. And while I definitely credit Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for my love of gaming, the SNES still has a very special place in my heart. It is where it all started, afterall.

Fun fact: I still kick the average player’s ass at Super Mario Bros (I’m that annoying person who sits next to you going ‘you missed a secret mushroom’), but I have still never actually finished the damn game. I’m learning to live with the fact that I probably never will.

Basically I plan on wearing these pretty much every where, every day, always. Try and stop me.

Moving on, of course no Evolve themed box would be complete with some Pokemon representation!

Gamer Girl Monthly April Box Pokeball Ring

I am genuinely really impressed with the quality of this ring. Finding similar pieces online and in stores is pretty easy, pokeball accessories are a dime a dozen, but this is actually a really nice, quality ring. It has a little bit of weight to it, rather than being just another plastic piece that will break the first time you drop it, and it is just so shiny and pretty. A+, 10/10, would recommend.

I am slowly acquiring a full outfit worth of pokemon gear. Soon I will be ready to embark on my own journey to become a pokemon master. (In the mean time, though, I’m working on liveblogging my way through the entire TV show. Now that I’m graduated and all I will be resuming this series, so be sure to read the first post soon!)

And finally, my personal favorite item this month (and let me tell you that was hard to choose), this adorable Kirby coin purse!

Gamer Girl Monthly April Box Kirby Coin Purse

I may or may not have audibly squealed when I took this out of the box. How CUTE is this?? Kirby was always a favorite in my house, so even though I haven’t played any of the more recent games the little fluffball still has a special place in my gamer heart. I now proudly carry this around in my Zelda purse and revel at the range of looks I get from cashiers when I pull it out.

Seriously, though I do not think I can explain the excitement that rushed through me when I saw this. I’m obsessed. It is just too cute and perfect.
